Disability Support

Psychology for Life provides clinical support to children, adolescents and adults with developmental disability to address concerns and improve quality of life for the person and the family. This includes Intellectual Disability, autism, ADHD, Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy. Psychology for Life uses evidence based psychological interventions and evidence based practice from many years of experience supporting people with disabilities.

Comprehensive assessments

Assessments are useful for identifying both diagnosis and guide treatment. Our comprehensive assessments include developmental and family history, environment, communication, relationships, life skills, social skills and ability to self regulate

clinical interventions

We tailor interventions to individual needs to bring about positive outcomes in mental health, behaviour, communication, relationships, skills and personal development. Our evidence based practice include supportive counselling, social skills training, self -regulation, mindfulness and Applied Behaviour Analysis.

Family Support

We work closely with the family and supports to draw on individual strengths. Counselling for parents around any issues supporting your child including parenting strategies and any emotional issues that are causing the family members distress.

Psychology for Life specialises in family therapy which works on the family as a unit to bring about well-being of the family and each member of the family.

How Can i help my child to become Independent?

Helping your child to become independent involves focusing on key areas including living skills, personal skills, social skills, emotional well-being and everyday activities. What’s important is providing consistent building blocks for your child to develop in these areas and lots of encouragement.

Psychology for Life will work together with you and your child to develop his /her independence which is crucial for good mental health, well- being and quality of life.


How can i improve my social life?

It is important to use all the resources that are provided by NDIS providers including psychologists to develop social skills, improve communication and relationships.

Having good social supports and networks increases resilience and improves mental health and well-being.
